SHELLMET: The world's first helmet made from scallop shells. It's made from crushed discarded shells, using recycled materials. The design allows unrestricted use by people of all ages, genders and applications. Particularly suitable for scallop fishermen working in harsh weather conditions, the helmet has no vents or slits to prevent rainwater penetration.
Jury's Evaluation
The SHELLMET effectively combines form and function, demonstrating how an everyday object can possess both practical utility and a sense of poetic design. Its bionic structure and use of recycled materials exemplify modern sustainable product design that balances functionality and aesthetics. Originating from the idea of repurposing waste materials, it successfully creates new economic opportunities for the local community while serving as an innovative model for sustainable development that integrates design, functionality, and entrepreneurship.
