Our project redefines public restrooms at Tsubasa Park, transforming them into open, relaxing, and enjoyable spaces. Visitors can enjoy views of Tokyo International Airport from benches and observation platforms under extended eaves. The design seamlessly blends traditional and modern elements, using sustainable materials like Japanese cypress and Yakisugi (burnt cedar) for durability and aesthetics. Gender-neutral signage with non-traditional colors further promotes inclusivity.

Jury's Evaluation

Simple lines and clever color contrasts were used in the redesign of the park restroom to construct a public space that is extremely modern and up-to-date, helping to enhance the city’s image. The neutral design downplays gender and environmental characteristics for a neutral and balanced aesthetic style, enabling users to enjoy a comfortable experience in a public facility with a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
