For the first time, TDRI has initiated and unified the needs of 4 agencies to co-create a system that adopts a human-centered approach. The system complies with regulations and international standards, serving as a reference throughout Taiwan. Also, it aims to address the current lack of coherence and legibility in public pictogram usage across various contexts. Furthermore, it meets the emerging demands for new pictograms that arise as trends evolve.
Jury's Evaluation
The Taiwan Public Pictogram System successfully integrates the iconographic requirements of multiple organizations and regulatory restrictions while catering to a human-centered approach. The reworked system allows Taiwan’s public pictogram system to keep up with the times and comprehensively elevates functionality and cultural inclusiveness. Although the system was designed specifically for Taiwan, it is fully compliant with international standards. The balance between local and international characteristics is especially noteworthy. The pictograms are simple, easy to understand, and show very high design standards.
