The Huang Residence on Xinyi Street is a traditional three-section coral stone house that blends original structure with minimal intervention and a new timber roof. Using “gaps” as a key design element, light and sky flow into the space. Upstairs, a folded wooden roof forms a gabled rhythm like a beating heart, breathing new life into the old house. The fusion of past and present creates a quiet yet powerful dialogue between history and today.

Building upon the integrity of the historic structure, the design boldly and delicately redefines the spatial order, striking a thoughtful balance between past and present. It reveals a poetic interplay of material, scale, and time, allowing the heritage house to regain a quiet, renewed life in a modern setting.
