Located in a quiet alley downtown, the building had undergone numerous unauthorized revamps and extensions over 5 decades, making the original character unrecognizable. In response, the renovation chose preservation over demolition, opting for architectural regeneration via subtraction and reinterpretation. By removing dilapidated additions, reopening the front courtyard, and reworking the façade, the building reconnects with the street. Interiors, light and wind flow freely through open spaces.
