"Minna no Tsukemono" is a community project for the Japan Echigo Tsumari Art Triennale 2024. The MaD team researched pickle stories in Japan and Hong Kong, inviting participants to a summer cultural exchange through eating, reading, and writing.

The design concept uses the Chinese character "漬" to symbolize water, containers, pressure, and crucial "heart (effort)," expressing and enduring traditional wisdom.

Jury's Evaluation

By using the structure of the Chinese character as its core concept, the design cleverly transforms the essential elements of pickling—water and vessels—into a clear visual language. It is precise, self-explanatory, and emotionally resonant, conveying its idea without the need for additional explanation. A compelling example of design that “reveals its meaning through its form.”
