All Weaves In My Heart: Decoding Patterns of Hakka and Punti’s Band Weaving is a publication that aims to highlight the culture of Patterned Band (Fai tai) among younger generations. Fai tai is a traditional craft of the Hong Kong Hakka and Weitou women in the old days. The book provides an oral history of Fai tai culture by old female weavers, in which they share the skills and stories behind the colourful Fai Tai.
Color plays a key role in design to create a fresh impression to the traditional culture. It also depicts the happy memories of grannies' weaving life in old days and appearance of the Fai Tai.
As one of the historical NGO, design direction for Carita HK's previous projects are conservative. The vibrant tone of the book, by using saturated color theme and playful layout design, is essential to attract youngsters. Keeping a good balance of the vibrant tone and maintaining a decent image of Caritas becomes the most challenging part of the work.
