Monow House has a symbiotic relationship with the owner’s parents’ house next door. With a communal courtyard as a center of composition, both houses share various functions. The site is long and narrow, so the planning of massing and openings is crucial to ensure maximum natural light and ventilation without compromising on privacy. The exterior wall of the 3rd floor, being most exposed to the elements, is cladded with hollow-core triangular shaped ceramic tiles which act as a thermal barrier.
