The creation of the "Laizhou Bar" spatial sequence utilizes the techniques of quotation, extraction, and amplification of the factory production process to incorporate the details of the materials used in the production process into the bar space, linking the mutually beneficial relationship between Laizhou Distillery in Qionglai City, Sichuan Province, and Laizhou Bar in Shanghai.

The spatial planning consists of a tasting area, VIP rooms, bar, kitchen, restroom, and outdoor seating area. Qionglai, with its excellent natural environment for wine production, is also the best place in Asia for firefly watching. Therefore, we used nearly 6,000 discarded wooden barrel staves from whisky casks to create an installation that connects the outdoor and indoor spaces in a long strip, forming a flowing spatial visual experience. The double-loop structure on the ceilings of the tasting area and bar area together form the symbol of infinity (∞), echoing the concept of circular utilization in whisky production, fertilizer, and steam at the distillery. The layered running lights symbolize the passage of time, resembling fireflies flickering and lingering.
We are aware that the quantity of discarded oak barrels is limited, so we decided to construct the dome of the tasting area first, similar to building a nest. As time goes by and more discarded barrel staves accumulate, they will be used to construct the dome of the bar area. The partitions between the tasting area and bar area are composed of discarded metal rings and cut wooden panels with holes, ensuring a cohesive material application. The natural appearance of the metal rings is enhanced by environmental lighting, presenting a unique artistic expression.
