The house, located in Subang Malaysia, spans approximately 2300 sqft link house, surrounded by a charming garden neighbourhood featuring 18-year-old landscaping. The house boasts a tropical vintage facade, with an original layout that have enclosed kitchens and rooms, an open-air courtyard connecting many of the bedrooms, terracotta tiles, painted timber ceilings, and decorative bathroom tiles from the late 80s.
The initial condition of the house presented a challenge due to its outdated design and limited space. Inspired by the iconic Muller House, we envisioned a transformation that would maximize the potential of the multilevel layout. Our primary focus was to create a seamless flow throughout the house, starting with the relocation of the staircase. By strategically placing the staircase to ensure consistent accessibility to all floors, we were able to enhance the functionality and interactivity of the previously underutilized courtyard. The courtyard underwent a remarkable conversion, now serving as an inviting staircase adorned with trees & glass roof. This addition not only floods the house with natural sunlight but also strengthens the connection between the various levels of the home. Furthermore, we reimagined the master bathroom by removing walls and replacing them with a half-height barrier, cleverly adorned with lush foliage for both privacy and ventilation. These thoughtful design choices breathe new life into the space while maintaining a sense of harmony and openness.
