"Turn off the light" — this sentence written by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki in "In Praise of Shadows" almost encapsulates all my design thinking. From opening the black book box, to flipping through the pages, to closing the book, you can fully experience the beauty of shadows. The entire book uses six different textures of black materials, combined with printing techniques, reflecting more than a dozen different shades of "black."
